Mark Astley
Global Macro Strategist
Millennium Global Investments

Mark, Millennium’s Global Macro Strategist, provides macro input into all Millennium’s investment products and has a significant involvement in the Millennium currency overlay strategy. He spent 15 years at Schroders undertaking research and managing portfolios in debt, equity and foreign exchange markets in New York, Hong Kong and London. Initially, Mark worked in Asia as part of a team managing the Japanese equity portion of global balanced pension fund portfolios; he was also a member of the global asset allocation committee.

Mark also has extensive fixed income experience and was awarded "Global Fixed Income Fund Manager of the Year" in 2001 by the International Money Marketing magazine. Finanzen also awarded him "Global Bond Fund Manager of the Year" in 2000 (2nd place) and he was the only fixed income manager featured by Bilanz among top performing managers of 1999

He has published various academic articles on quantitative modeling and currently supervises doctoral research in collaboration with the Oxford Centre for Computational Finance (OCCF), University Oxford, where he looks at more academic areas of interest in the field of econophysics, specialising in FX market microstructure.

Mark has also been responsible for managing derivatives exposure in several equity and global debt portfolios. Mark was awarded a sponsorship to the Banking & Finance degree course at Loughborough University and is a member of Institute for Investment Management & Research. He is registered with the FSA.

Alfred G. Bisset

Mr. Bisset is President, CEO and founder of A. G. Bisset & Company. He had 14 years executive sales experience prior to this start up including at E. F. Hutton & Co. where he was Vice President of National Institutional Sales. Mr. Bisset left E. F. Hutton in 1978 to join an Investment Advisor boutique in Connecticut as its President responsible for Sales and Client Services.

A.G. Bisset & Co., founded in 1981, provided currency and interest rate advisory service to Fortune 500 companies and institutional money managers around the world. In 1988 the Company introduced its Currency Overlay program when the Prudential Insurance Company of America awarded the firm its first currency overlay mandate. The firm launched a Currency Alpha Program, in 2002, when Holland¹s largest corporate pension fund awarded the firm a mandate.

Mr. Bisset is responsible for A.G. Bisset & Company¹s marketing, client services as well as oversees the firm¹s currency overlay and currency alpha programs that are managed on a day-to-day basis by the firm¹s currency team.

Mr. Bisset sits on the boards of or has been a member of many organizations including: University of Florida Foundation; Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. in New York; Herreshoff Marine Museum/America¹s Cup Hall of Fame in Bristol, RI.; Burns¹ Society of the City of NY; St. Andrews¹ Society in New York; University Club of NY, Winged Foot Golf Club, New York Yacht Club; Royal Overseas League; St. Giles Society for the Preservation of Historic Churches in Edinburgh.

Simon Derrick

Simon joined The Bank of New York in 1994 as head of FX sales in Europe. In 1998 he moved on to establish the bank's Currency Research Team which now provides daily, weekly and monthly analysis of the foreign exchange markets to the investment management community. In addition the team has built and administered the bank's iPFM product (tracking cross border investment flows). Simon has nearly 20 years experience working in the foreign exchange markets. Prior to joining the Bank of New York he had spent 6 years working with Citibank, initially as part of the fund management sales team and then as a member of the proprietary trading team. Previous to this Simon had worked in the treasury departments of Midland Bank and Banque Indosuez. He graduated with honours from University College London in 1982.

W. Parker King, CFA

Parker is a managing director and team leader of Putnam’s Currency Investment Unit. An original architect of the process, he is responsible for leading the Currency Investment Unit, driving currency forecasts firm-wide, and maintaining Putnam’s core philosophical approach to currency management. Parker has discretionary trading responsibilities for the U.S. dollar and euro and oversight responsibility for the discretionary trading discipline across all currency portfolios. He holds Series 2 and 3 licenses with the NASD and is a CFA charterholder. Parker joined Putnam in 1997 and has 13 years of investment industry experience

Before joining Putnam he was head of global asset allocation and currency from 1993 to 1997 at TSA Capital Management. Prior to this he was a platoon leader from 1986 to 1991 with the US Army Special Operations Command. He obtained a MBA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business and a BS from United States Military Academy, West Point.

Gary Klopfenstein

Gary is senior managing director of Mesirow Financial Investment Management and chief investment officer of Mesirow Financial Currency Management. He is the founder of the GK Group of Companies, whose currency management activities were purchased by Mesirow Financial in May 2004. Gary has over 17 years experience in foreign exchange and is one of the top practitioners in the world in the field of currency risk management. His executive responsibilities include developing the firm’s proprietary trading and risk management programs, overall responsibility for the investment management processes and conceptualization and initiation of new research projects and investment products. Gary consults with clients on a regular basis regarding currency risk management issues.

Prior to forming the GK Group of Companies, Gary was president of Roth-Honegger & Company a family owned agricultural firm based in Bloomington Illinois, where his responsibilities included managing the firm’s financial assets and risks in addition to hedging its commodity exposures. In 1986 Gary formed GK Capital Management Inc., in order to apply his sophisticated risk management principals to financial assets. In 1989 Gary began applying these principals to the management of currency risk in international investment portfolios. In 1992 he formed GK Investment Management and registered as an SEC investment advisor to manage assets for pension funds.

Gary graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in May 1985, Summa Cum Laude, with a BA in Business Administration. He is a recognised leader in the field of currency risk management and has lectured at various conferences including the World Economic Congress. He has authored the book, "Trading Currency Cross Rates” and edited the books, "FX: Managing Global Currency Risk" and “Strategic Trading in the Foreign Exchange Markets”.

Prior to joining Banque AIG he worked at Lehman Brothers for 10 years where he held senior positions in Treasury, Equity Finance and Prime Brokerage. Mark has an honours degree in Psychology and an MBA from University College Dublin.

Bill Muysken

Bill is the global head of research for Mercer Investment Consulting.  Based in London, he is responsible for overseeing investment research across Mercer Investment Consulting globally, and is also a direct contributor to the firm¹s manager research program, with a focus on international investment strategies.  Bill was named European Investment Consultant of the Year for 2003 by Global Money Management.

Bill has more than 20 years of experience within the pensions and investment industry.  Prior to joining Mercer in 1992, Bill had worked for a life insurance company in Sydney, and then for the Australian government in Canberra.  At Mercer he has provided specialist advice on international investment issues to Mercer clients based in some 18 different countries. 

Bill has a bachelor¹s degree majoring in actuarial studies from Macquarie University, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. He has tutored in financial mathematics at the Australian National University, and has also served as a guest lecturer in investment courses offered by the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Nick Rogers

Nick is senior technical consultant for Mellon Investment Management Solutions. Nick has had 23 years experience in the financial services sector (14+ years in performance). Previously he worked at UBS, Credit Suisse and Northern Trust and was a senior performance analyst with Mellon from 1998-2004 before moving to his current position. In his current role his responsibilities include fixed income attribution, query solving and reporting. Nick is also involved with teaching at Osney Events and Training. Nick graduated with a Math and Economics Degree from Cardiff University and is an ASIP (Association for the Society of Investment Professionals) member. His hobbies include swimming, history and writing.

Cynthia F. Steer

As chief research strategist, Cynthia focuses on program implementation. Cynthia also manages fixed income research and is responsible for the evaluation and monitoring of all U. S. and global fixed income managers and products. She plays an active role in helping clients shape their fixed income programs including plan structure, strategies, and performance monitoring. She is a member of the non-traditional research committee, which reviews all private equity, hedge fund, and real estate recommendations, and the fiduciary investment review committee, which provides oversight for fiduciary clients. She is also a member of the investment policy committee, which reviews and approves capital market assumptions and other similar investment policy issues.

Before joining the firm in 2002, Cynthia was the chief investment officer for SBLIUSA and was responsible for their $1.5 billion portfolio. Her job responsibilities included investment policy, manager selection, and asset allocation. Prior to joining SBLIUSA, Cynthia has held positions as the director of pension investments for United Technologies Corporation where she was responsible for their defined benefit and defined contribution plans and at the City of Hartford where she was an in-house consultant and chief investment officer.

Cynthia also serves on the investment committees of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, The Greater New Haven Community Foundation, Harriet Beecher Stowe House, the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, and is chair of the investment committee for the University of Hartford. In addition, she is a member of the Lehman Index Advisory Board and the JP Emerging Markets Index Advisory Board.

Stacy Williams

Stacy is associate director of Quantitative Strategy for the HSBC FX Strategy Group. His responsibilities include publishing quantitative research, advising on the development of currency overlay programs, and the construction of bespoke hedging strategies. He works with hedge funds, institutional investors and corporate clients on a range of foreign exchange and interest rate problems.

Stacy is also responsible for proprietary model trading, concentrating on models based on transactional flow information, high frequency price data, and economic activity data.

He has published various academic articles on quantitative modeling and currently supervises doctoral research in collaboration with the Oxford Centre for Computational Finance (OCCF), University Oxford, where he looks at more academic areas of interest in the field of econophysics, specialising in FX market microstructure.

Stacy has an MA in Physics from Pembroke College, University of Oxford and an MPhil in nanoscale engineering.
